Info for Gismondo - Re di Polonia

First performed at Rome’s Teatro delle Dame in 1727, Leonardo Vinci’s Gismondo, re di Polonia is a masterpiece that has all the qualifications for entry into the standard repertoire. Its libretto alone, with its family relationships full of Freudian complexes and occult practices, defies established opera seria conventions.

The plot revolves around an unpredictable despot, who pushes the world order to the brink of the abyss with policies that serve not the laws of reason and humanity but rather erratic impulses and superstitious rituals. Vinci’s scenes are reminiscent of therapy sessions. They accompany their heroes and heroines down into the dungeons of their souls and out onto Shakespearian battlefields where the living climb up out of mountains of corpses.

Vinci’s Gismondo is for the first time recorded on CD. This soul-searching work features Aleksandra Kubras-Kuk as the neurotic Primislao and Max Emanuel Cencic in the title role. The children fighting to restore order in the world of their fathers, which has sunk into chaos, are sung by Sophie Junker and Yuriy Mynenko.

Das {oh!} Orkiestra Historyczna
wurde im Jahre 2012 von einer Gruppe leidenschaftlicher Liebhaber Alter Musik im polnischen Kattowitz gegründet. Die musikalische Leitung übernahm die Konzertmeisterin Martyna Pastuszka, die wirtschaftliche Artur Malke. Bei ihrer Arbeit orientieren sich die MusikerInnen an der historisch informierten Aufführungspraxis, wobei ihnen der direkte, unmittelbare Kontakt zu ihrem Publikum sehr am Herzen liegt, dem sie die verschiedenen Dimensionen eines jeden Werkes näher bringen wollen.

Bei seinem fünfjährigen Bestehen im Jahr 2017 hat sich das Ensemble bereits den Ruf als eines der bedeutendsten Ensembles für Alte Musik nicht nur in Polen erworben, nicht zuletzt dank der Unterstützung der Stadt Kattowitz, die das Ensemble seit seiner Gründung tatkräftig unterstützt. Dank einer engen Zusammenarbeit mit dem Nationalen Symphonieorchester des Polnischen Rundfunks in Kattowitz gibt das Orkiestra Historyczna regelmäßig Konzerte im Rahmen der Reihe Alte Musik, die auch vom Rundfunk übertragen werden und es dem Orchester ermöglichen, mit namhaften Solisten wie Andreas Staier, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Julien Chauvin, Marco Beasley oder Jean Guihen Qyeyras aufzutreten.

In Zusammenarbeit mit tschechischen Künstlern wirkte das Orkiestra Historyczna auch bei zwei szenischen Produktionen von Domenico Sarris Didone Abbandonata bzw. Johann Adolf Hasses Arminio mit, die u.a. in Prag, Ostrava und Brünn sowie in Kattowitz und Warschau gezeigt wurden. Am CD-Markt ist das das Ensemble zur Zeit mit 3 CD-Alben vertreten: Violin- und Cembalokonzerte von Schreyfogel, Schaffrath und Visconti, einer Sammlung von Werken unter dem Titel Musica Claromontana mit Musik aus dem Kloster Czeqstochowa, die dritte CD enthält französische Instrumentalmusik von Lully, Campra, Couperin, Correte und Marais. Die letzten beiden CDs wurden für den Fryderyk-Preis – den wichtigsten Musikpreis in Polen – nominiert. Am Theater an der Wien ist das {oh!} Orkiestra Historyczna heute erstmals zu erleben.

Martyna Pastuszka
Die Dirigentin und Konzertmeisterin Martyna Pastuszka wurde 1980 in Oberschlesien geboren, wo sie in einer musikalischen Familie aufgewachsen ist. Sie studierte Violinspiel an der Musikhochschule in Kattowitz, wo sie als Dozentin unterrichtet. Ihr wachsendes Interesse an historischen Aufführungspraktiken führte zu einer langjährigen Zusammenarbeit mit Arte Dei Suonatori, einem der führenden Ensembles für Alte Musik in Polen, bei dem sie von Ewa und Aureliusz Goliriski sehr viel profitieren konnte und die ihre musikalische Persönlichkeit sehr geprägt haben.

Martyna Pastuszka arbeitete seit über einem Jahrzehnt mit vielen Ensembles zusammen, die sie als Kammermusikerin, Solistin oder Gastkonzertmeisterin eingeladen haben, etwa die Hofkapelle München, Le Concert de la Loge und Le Cercle de l’Harmonie aus Paris, das Collegium Marianum – und das Collegium 1704 aus Prag sowie das Ensemble Diletto aus Bialystok.

Im Jahr 2012 gründete sie zusammen mit dem Manager Artur Malke das in Kattowitz ansässige {oh!} Orkiestra Historyczna, dessen musikalische Leitung sie innehat. Die Auftritte des Ensembles unter ihrer Führung wurden von der Kritik als „die größte Entdeckung der letzten Jahre“ gefeiert. Am Theater an der Wien ist Martyna Pastuszka heute erstmals zu Gast.
